The castle was built in 1285 by Count Floris V. It is strategically situated on the river Vecht and the IJmeer. Guides will take you through the 17th century furnished rooms where famous Dutch poet P.C.Hooft lived four hundred years ago. The guided tours are in Dutch but all guides have a good knowledge of the English language and will always take foreign language speakers into consideration. Translations of the tours are available in English, German, French and Spanish.

Fortress Island Pampus
